We all must work in and with organizations whether it is in a company, non-profit, government, education, healthcare or our own homes.

I spent much of my career inside one organization. Over time, I became increasingly interested in a question that was bigger than any particular department, technology implementation or leadership team: why do some organizations continue to function when circumstances change, while others become increasingly fragile? How do organizations sustain their strategy, execution and culture through disruption and ongoing change, including when leadership changes?

Through experience, education, including an MBA and extensive research, I believe a significant part of the answer is through an ongoing commitment to the organizational stewardship, the way of thinking that prioritizes long term resilience. To diagnose problems and how to pursue opportunities, I created a seven-domain framework of the organizations management system. This is the often-hidden architecture that runs through the organization that guides staff and managers in their execution, and a key factor in driving an organization's execution and culture.

Every organization has a management system. Some are intentionally built and maintained; many simply emerge over time. Through the process of organizational stewardship, leaders can take steps to ensure their systems are intentionally designed and maintained. I believe research supports organizations with coherent, deliberately structured systems to outperform those with fragmented or emergent systems under disruption.

On this site I will share articles which I hope provides value in the form of new perspectives and questions, as well as to display my thinking so leaders can get a sense of what I may bring to them. Everything I write is from me, imperfections and all; I love and am continually learning and implementing technology including AI but I believe some places are best to remain human. You are reading my words, not an "optimized" version.
